Remembering Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata

Today, 29 November, is marked as the death anniversary of Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata or JRD Tata, the father of the Indian aviation industry. He was born on July 29, 1904, in Tata business family of India.JRD Tata was the first Indian to own a flying license. He launched Air India International as India's first international airline in 1948. In 1953, he was appointed as Chairman of Air India and director on the Board of Indian Airlines- by the Government of India.
JRD Tata played an important role in establishing TISS (Tata Institute of Social Sciences), an organization that addresses social issues and provides education and research in this field.
India Post issued a commemorative stamp on Jehangir Ratanji Dadabhoy Tata on 29 November 1974.
