Gold Pagoda of Nayakas of Chitradurga

The Nayakas of Chitradurga were a feudatory chiefdom during the rule of the Hoysala Empire and the Vijayanagar Empire. After the decline of the Vijayanagar Empire, they ruled independently as a chiefdom. They also served as a vassal to the Mysore Kingdom, Mughal Empire, and Maratha Empire. Under British rule, their territories were merged into the Mysore provinces.The ruler of Nayakas of Chitradurga issued this Gold Pagada weighing 3.30g. The obverse features Krishna as Bal Gopal and the reverse if inscribed with the Nagari legend in the name of 'Krishnadeva Raya'.
