2024-06-27 Thu

The Four Annas stamp, first issued in 1854, features red for the frame and blue for the head.

The Inverted Head

An error led to some stamps having the head appear upside down. The error wasn't discovered until later and was initially reported in 1874.

This is one of the rarest Indian stamps sought after by rarity collectors worldwide.
